More than 25 years of experience in business in Asia: business development, manufacturing, R&D, JV␣s. In particular in China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
A Dutch national, born in 1954, Leon Husson graduated in Physics and obtained his PhD at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. In 1999, he graduated in the Advanced Management Program at Wharton, USA.
In 1983, he joined Royal Philips Electronics in the research and development of electronic components. He then moved on to various product marketing roles, before becoming plant director of the LCD facility in Heerlen, The Netherlands.
As general manager and plant director of the power semiconductor business based in Hazel Grove, UK, he initiated and executed a Euro 250 million investment programme to expand and upgrade the wafer manufacturing facilities in Hazel Grove.
From 1997 to 2005, he was member of the executive management team of the semiconductor division of Philips with overall business responsibility for two major BU's, growing the business to a revenue level of more than Euro 1 billion. During this period, he has built strong partnerships with leading customers and distributors. Ha also managed an extensive manufacturing base with multiple facilities in Europe, USA and Asia.
In 2007, after successfully turning around the situation at one of Philips's manufacturing equipment businesses, he set up his own management consulting and interim management company. This activity focuses on the merger and acquisition and commercial strategy area with private investment firms and large consulting firms as well as on business process improvement and organizational development areas with high-growth companies in the technology and renewable energy area. Most recently, he acted as interim CEO at a renewable energy start-up in Belgium, where he successfully introduced solid business processes and put in place a strong team to execute.
He has extensive board experience with a number of companies, including joint ventures between European, Asian and American partners. His mother tongue is Dutch, he is fluent in English and German, and has good working knowledge of French.
